Revised architecture, enhanced analytics, and a continuity-driven release model
RES Suite 7, the latest release of the RES platform, introduces a major architectural evolution spanning multiple products across the suite.
Compared to previous versions, this release represents a significant step forward, with targeted improvements designed to make the platform more modern, interoperable, and scalable – fully aligned with the operational needs of enterprise environments. Here’s a closer look at the key new features.

WIC Planet and Batch-Watch
With version 7, WIC Planet and Batch-Watch adopt a new architecture based on a clear separation between back end and front end, built on REST service-oriented principles. This approach enables easier integration with external applications, simplifies maintenance, and improves overall product stability.
The user interface has been redesigned with a more modern look and more intuitive navigation paths, enhancing usability and speeding up access to information.
z/OS Environment
On the mainframe side, RES Suite 7 introduces several enhancements aimed at expanding analytical coverage and ensuring compatibility with the latest versions of IBM and HCL schedulers and security platforms.
Key improvements include optimized management of TWS TAGs, enhancements to the COBOL Loader for high-volume analysis, and a new module for inventorying and analyzing emails generated by jobs scheduled via Control-M. These updates strengthen stability, security, and runtime analysis capabilities within the z/OS environment.
DS-Watch
Version 7 introduces DS-Watch, a new solution designed to provide a clear, integrated, and navigable view of enterprise data store usage.
DS-Watch analyzes data repositories both in terms of structure and allocation (at rest) and during operational usage (in motion), monitoring access patterns, I/O activity, response times, and relationships with batch processes and transactional components. The solution integrates natively with other products in the Watch family and with Docet, helping create unified documentation for the overall information system.
New deployment models
RES Suite 7 also introduces a new software distribution model aimed at simplifying installation, updates, and maintenance.
Applications are now delivered in a containerized format, with deployment descriptors compatible with Kubernetes and OpenShift. On the mainframe, SMP/E package management has been revised to reduce manual activities and improve the reliability and traceability of updates.
Continuous evolution of the Suite
With v7, the rolling release model becomes fully operational. Starting with this release, RES Suite will follow an annual release cadence, with a new version available every January.
This approach enables more predictable planning and continuous alignment between the product roadmap and customer needs, ensuring a steady and coherent evolution of the platform.
